Update: if you want to pay by credit card you don’t need to do all of the process below. If you know how much you need to pay, just go directly to https://kokuzei.noufu.jp, add your name and address info, skip the reference number if you don’t have one, and finally select Self-assessed Income Tax and Special Income Tax for Reconstruction for tax type and First Estimated or Second Estimated in declaration category.
This is honestly the shittiest experience I’ve had online in years and years.
Basically they make you click through half a dozen screens just to tell them how much you need to pay, which they fucking know in the first place because they sent you a paper with that information months ago and if you misplaced that paper there is an electronic version of it in your fucking inbox already. All of that so they can send you another notification in that same fucking inbox with a link to the credit card payment page.
WHY THE FUCK can’t they just send the link to the payment page in the first place?
